BNSF Train Rounding Tracks

Facing south, looking into the Manufacturing and Wholesale Historic District of Burlington, The old Chittenden and Eastman Building looms in the background of a set of railroad tracks that cuts through the heart of Burlington. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF), which began as The Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad, moved goods and people through the Midwest, causing Burlington to become a hub of traffic and commerce. Boxcars and train whistles have been as much a part of Burlington's history as the waters of the mighty Mississippi as far back as 1862.
