Burlington Library Winter

This Burlington Public Library building opened its doors at its current location on Court Street on November 13, 2006.  In 2007, The library won the Main Street Iowa Award for the Best Community Initiated Development Project. The original library building at the corner of N 4th and Columbia has become the home for the Des Moines County Historical Society Museum.  Origins of the Burlington Public Library itself can be traced all the way back to 1868, as a subscription library, housed in two rooms located in city hall.
