Fire Station Bell

The Fire Station Bell sits outside The Central Fire Station, at the corner of Valley and 5^th Streets. The building has been standing in the Downtown Commercial Historic District of Burlington since 1907. The 1500 pound cast iron bell was retired from the Fire Station Bell Tower but is still in use outside the station. It is rung in various bell ringing ceremonies, including the annual September 11th ceremony, where it is rung a total of sixteen times, just as the fire station bells in New York.
