Product Description

Full view of the historic painted, brick building which stands at the corner of N 4th and Columbia Streets, in the Heritage Hill Historic District. This building was built in 1847, and owned by Dr. W. W. Nassau. A native of Pennsylvania, he moved to Burlington in 1855, and began his practice. He was a highly respected doctor, and helped build two very prominent buildings in The Downtown Commercial Historic District, The Elk Building (Nassau Building), and the Grand Opera House (now torn down). This building is located on the lot of the first brick house built in Iowa, to Judge David Rorer in 1836.
