Grand Canyon Hermit Trail Stairs

On Day 2 of our Grand Canyon exploration, we decided to drive to the various points along the rest of the Orange Route, walk the entire Blue Route, and then take the bus along the Red Route. At the west end of the Red Route, along the South Rim, is Hermits Rest, with Hermits Rest Trail head. We took the trail down into the Canyon a ways here, at Hermits Rest.  The most important thing to remember when hiking in the Grand Canyon is "down is optional, up is necessary".  There are signs posted along all the major trails, reminding hikers that coming back up is twice as hard as going down into the Canyon.
