Harper-Ekdale Residence

This cute stone house and garage sits at the corner of Third St and Columbia. The history of this residential building has alluded me in my research, but I will not give up. It sits next to the lot where Old Zion Church once stood, and there is now a historical marker at the edge of the property commemorating this spot. The church was torn down and The Grand Opera House was built on that lot. It has also been torn down. But old, historic photos show the stone house and garage standing next to the Opera House. The boundary line between the now empty lot and residential house is the line between The Heritage Hill Historic District and The Downtown Commercial Historic District in Burlington.
