TeePee Curios 66

The Tepee Curios building in Tucumcari, New Mexico faces Route 66. The original building opened as a Gulf gas station in 1944, and in 1948 became Leland Haynes Grocery, Meats & Curious. It then became Jene's Trading Post in 1960.  In 1959-60 Route 66 was widened, and the gas pumps were lost and the concrete Tee Pee entry was built. The Neon Sign was added in 1960 and restored in 2003 as part of the New Mexico Route 66 Neon Sign Restoration Project.
